Prof. Felipe Chibas Ortiz, PhD

Regional representative for Latin America and the Caribbean in the international direction of the UNESCO MIL ALLIANCE committee and Co-leader of UNESCO Grown and Town MILCITIES, Dr. Felipe Chibas Ortiz is a researcher and associate professor at EACOM. He coordinates the Thot-CRIARCOM laboratory (Center for Evaluation and Measurement Studies in Communication and Marketing at the University of São Paulo (USP) in Brazil.

Director of the NGO PAFEME (Platform of Actions and Training in Media Education for Children), Dr Komi Kounakou is a researcher and consultant in childhood media/digital literacy. He is a visiting professor at the Virtual University of Mali (West Africa) and is associated on issues of Media and Information Education with the Unesco Chair in Communication and Technology for Development, UQÀM Montreal (Quebec) Canada

    Prof. Felipe Chibás Ortiz, PhD, is Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo (USP).

    Professor and researcher at the Center for Evaluation and Measurement Studies in Communication and Marketing (CEACOM) at USP, where he teaches, among other things, the subject of creativity and innovation management. It crowns the postgraduate course Diversities, Ethics of Care and Cities MIL. He is a master's and doctoral tutor at USP's Latin American Integration Program (PROLAM). He is the representative of the Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean of UNESCO MIL ALLIANCE and co-leader of the UNESCO Gown and Town (MIL Cities) initiative and the UNESCO informal group on the Innovation approach. in MIL.

    He is the author of 27 books. (Brazil- Cuba)

    Director of Pafeme.ca, Komi is passionate about media


    Since 2020, co-coordinates the Building Africa MIL Cities project. It is an experimental initiative deployed by UNESCO to promote the responsible, critical and ethical use of new technologies. In collaboration with Prof. Dr. Felipe Chibas Ortiz from the University of Sao Paulo, co-director of UNESCO MILCities (Paris) and representative of UNESCO MIL Alliance Latin America and the Caribbean, I lead periodic high-level international seminars entitled "Building Quebec & Africa MILCIties” with more than 10 countries to develop the project and collaborate on research in the field. The two recent meetings: “Community education in media and information: how to mobilize NPOs around a common subject? » and « MIL Cities around the World: Education in Brazil, Quebec and Africa » have as their main objective to mobilize civil society actors to integrate media and information education into their practices as an essential necessity of the social balance.
